Blog#2 Lion King 3D

One week ago, I watched The Lion King 3D in Shinjuku Wald.
As we know, this movie is one of the most famous movies in the world. The Lion King was broadcasted in 1998. But we still already remember it and actually it was revived as 3D movie.

In my view, the story is not so creative, comparing with the other Disney movies. But the individual characters and great musics make the original world view where the nature and wild animals live.

In the characters, I like Pumbaa, which is a warthog and the best friend of Timon. His movement is very commical and sometimes slapstick. He makes us very fun.
And the music called circle of the world has magnificent scale. So it moves my mind.

About reviving 3D, that effect is not so big, considering the movies which are made for particulary 3D. But the strength of image is stronger than original one. And the color becomes more clear.

I have never seen the play of The Lion King. I would like to see it. Have you ever seen it?

  1. I haven't watched any 3D movie so I am interested in it.
3D movies have lately attracted attention but many friends after watching it told me that 3D effect was less effective and attractive than they had expected. You were also seemed to have such an opinion so are 3D movies developing?
I have watched the play of The Lion King in the Shiki's theater. (Shiki is a Japanese theatrical company.) That was so nice and impressed me deeply, because that is really 3D and powerful. You should check it :)

  2. Hi Motoki,
Is this the first 3D movie you have seen? I haven't seen any yet - am I missing something spectacular? According to your blog, I think so. Did you wear 3D glasses? Could you keep them or did you have to return them to the theatre when the movie was over?
By the way, the theatre is called Shinjuku Wald - please fix.
Another question - are there other theatres in Tokyo with 3D screens? So far, I only know Wald. Until the number of screens increases, the number of films will stay small.

  5. Who wrote the above comment?
It is incomplete - write in a proper sentence, and make sure to add your name. Shape up! If you are the author of Blog #2, then you have many questions from students to answer properly, in addition to my question.
